Ann Howell

Ann was a friend at Windsor and wrote these words:

Daniel entered into a journey of self-discovery at mid-life and continues to find intellectual stimulation and personal fulfillment in his philosophical explorations. He was born and raised in Manhattan. Daniel graduated from high school at 15, and trained at Yale and the University of Pennsylvania before being drafted as an army dentist to serve at the Panama Canal in 1946. In civilian life his search began, he married in 1954, worked as a dentist, returned to school at the Teachers College of New York City for a Master’s Degree in education (1971) and worked as a federal Volunteer in Service to America (VISTA) on a Sioux Indian reservation in South Dakota. He assisted in research on psychiatric social sciences at UCLA and entered a Quaker community, before he moved back to California in 1996 where he lived in several retirement communities. In 2011, he came to Windsor and said he hoped that he would never have to move again.
